Chalet Doux Abri by Emerald Stay

We enjoyed a wonderful mountain escape in the luxurious chalet Doux Abri by Emerald Stay.

The 6 bedroom chalet is in Morzine which is a bustling town all year round and there are plenty of activities for families nearby.

We were impressed before we even arrived because the organisation and communication with the team at Emerald Stay was really efficient and friendly. The self-check in was very easy and we were soon unpacked and ready to relax. There are plenty of supermarkets around so we stocked up on essentials and hit the hot tub on the terrace which is the perfect spot for evening star gazing. For the first few days it was just me, Jean and Elio so our goal was to relax as much as possible and spend some cocooning time with Elio who had had a difficult week and this was really the ideal place for it. As well as the jacuzzi there is also a sauna so there is everything you need to unwind at the end of a day hiking or skiing.

The chalet is spread over three floors offering plenty of space for guests and most of the bedrooms are en suite which is really practical, and they are all appointed with comfortable beds. Jean and I picked a nice room with gorgeous views with Elio next door.

We were grateful to have plenty of space as Jean was working the first couple of days so it was important that he had a spot to work quietly while I entertained Elio.

Jude and Alba arrived with Jeans parents at the weekend and they loved the chalet as much as we did. We decided to try the BBQ on the terrace and eat outside which was lovely in the warm evening air with the spectacular view before us.

Jude and Alba had picked the room with bunk beds and Jeans parents had a lovely room on the ground floor. We all slept well and were ready for a fun day ahead. We decided to visit the Goat village in Les Lindarets which isn't far away then home for lunch. In the afternoon we visited the Parc des Dérêches which has plenty of activities for children including acrobranch which Jude tried and pony riding for Alba. It's a beautiful park with plenty of shade which was welcome in the hot weather. To end a lovely day, we took a stroll through the town where we stopped for a cool drink.

We decided to BBQ again on the last night and we loved the conviviality of all preparing a meal to share together under the stars. In the cooler months, there is a large dining table inside which would be a lovely place to eat with the log fire crackling in the background.

The chalet was full of nice little touches from lovely soaps, to a gift of local biscuits and they even left a polaroid camera with film we could use. We loved this and the children were happy to capture moments from the weekend.
