Discover 600 million years of animal and human evolution, biology and cultural history.

Jean contacted the Kulturama museum at the last minute as we had a bit of free time during our summer trip to Zurich.
I wasn’t too sure what to expect but it was really interesting with a huge amount of items on display. The information was all in Swiss German but we managed to translate a lot of it using an app Jean had on his phone which helped us to make more sense of what we were looking at.

Don’t expect a flashy, modern museum. This is really a place to learn and we weren’t sure how the children would react given that they are used to more digital exhibits but they really enjoyed it and found it very thought provoking. Jude was fascinated by the first part which looked at how mankind evolved and asked lots of questions. There was a display looking at pregnancy and the development of a baby in utero which also gave him a lot to think about he he enjoyed looking at the skeletons. We were all fascinated by the enormous preserved heart of a whale.

They have temporary exhibitions and at the moment there is and interactive one exploring the ear and how we process sound. I see on their website that they also have a Halloween event planned!
It’s a nice place and well worth a visit if you have some free time in Zurich.
